Install Weaver on Linux

  1. Install Git, and Git LFS if you use it, from your distribution’s packages.
  2. Download Weaver-linux-x86_64.tar.gz and extract it.
  3. Run bin/weaver from the extracted folder.
  4. Drag a repository folder into the window, or use Add repository to clone one.

What you need

  • x64 Linux with a Wayland session
  • A Vulkan 1.3 driver
  • xdg-desktop-portal (installed by default on GNOME and KDE)
  • Git and curl

Good to know

  • There is no X11 backend yet. Check your session with echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE.
  • The build is made on Ubuntu 24.04. Older distributions may need to build from source.
  • Optional: Git Credential Manager and secret-tool (libsecret-tools on Debian and Ubuntu) for one-click GitHub sign-in.
  • Linux has had less testing than Windows. Please report anything that does not work.

Build from source

If the prebuilt archive does not suit your distribution, install the build packages and compile it yourself.

# Debian, Ubuntu

# Arch

git clone https://github.com/KeoneSomers/Weaver.git && cd Weaver

What you get

Syntax-highlighted diffs in unified or side-by-side view, staging by file or hunk, branches, merge, rebase, cherry-pick, stash and tags, in-app conflict resolution, Git LFS tools, eleven themes and an extension API. See every feature, or read how Weaver compares with GitHub Desktop.
